With EXO member Xiumin’s appearance at a Japanese festival canceled just seven days before the event, some blamed the artist himself.
Concert Organizers Slammed For No Refund Policy After Top K-Pop Act Cancels
In regards to the controversy, INB100 has released a statement regarding the situation.
On the 5th, INB100 told OSEN, “We found inappropriate issues during the contract process for Xiumin’s appearance at the ASIA CULTURE FESTIVAL 2026, so after discussions with the event organizers, we decided to postpone Xiumin’s participation.”
Previously, Xiumin was scheduled to attend the ASIA CULTURE FESTIVAL 2026 at Tokyo Garden Theater on the 9th and 10th, but the performance was suddenly canceled a week before, and THE BOYZ’s New joined the lineup instead.
The agency explained, “The event organizers signed a contract on April 27 with another company, not with us, to book Xiumin. That company falsely represented themselves as ‘Xiumin’s agency’ on the contract, deceiving the organizers as if they had an exclusive contract with Xiumin.”
They continued, “Upon verification by the Japanese event organizers, it was confirmed that the company was not Xiumin’s actual agency but impersonated an authorized party and merely lent their bank account to collect commission fees for another intermediary.”
The agency added, “After the organizers became aware of these facts, they clearly defined the act as fraudulent and immediately canceled the contract with that company. Unfortunately, this has made Xiumin’s participation in ASIA CULTURE FESTIVAL 2026 impossible.”
However, the agency emphasized that the artist is not at fault. They stated, “We clearly affirm that artist Xiumin bears no responsibility or fault regarding this issue. The event organizers are also innocent victims who sincerely prepared for the event in good faith, believing the contract was legitimate.”
Finally, the agency promised, “We will take full measures to protect our artists and prevent such harm from happening again.”
