Popular Fan Union Reports More Than 100 Malicious Commenters

Actor Kim Soo Hyun, who is currently a hot issue in the Korean entertainment industry, is also known for his huge fan base.

On May 9, the legal representative for Kim Soo Hyun’s fan union announced they have begun full-scale legal action.

“On April 30, we reported more than 100 malicious commenters to the Seongbuk Police Station for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation).

The 100 or so commenters who were reported by the fandom have stated false facts, such as confirming that Kim Soo Hyun dated Kim Sae Ron as a minor, committing a crime against the deceased, or having a sexual addiction to minors.

In the case of insult, it is a private complaint, so a third-party accusation is not possible. Defamation is a non-punishable crime without a complaint, so a third-party accusation is possible. The fandom will take decisive legal action regarding the spread of false information about Kim Soo Hyun.”

The fan union appointed a legal representative last month after the fans concluded that they can no longer tolerate continuous malicious slander, false facts, and defamation.

Previously, the union filed a complaint against YouTuber Kwon Young Chan, accusing him of spreading false information through live broadcasts and other means.
