Idol-Turned-Actress Confesses To Being A Victim Of School Bullying

On January 14, former 4minute member Heo Gayoon recently opened up her past through the Sebasi Talk YouTube channel.

She revealed her experience with school violence during her trainee days.

Having a strong passion for singing and dancing from a young age, she knew she wanted to pursue a career in singing.

In particular, she recalled a shocking incident during her trainee days.

“I once got into a fight with a friend from another school. Can you call it a fight? Looking at it now, it was more like being caught up in school violence.

They were someone that I didn’t know, but they said they heard me talking badly about them and wanted to fight me. I was scared, so I said, ‘I’m not going to fight. Just hit me, but just not my face.’”

She explained that she made this choice because she dreamed of becoming a singer.

I was a trainee at the time, and it would have been a massive problem for me if the company had found out. So, I was literally grabbed by the hair while getting beaten. I kept thinking, ‘I have to become a real singer, so I can’t fail here.’

She also added that the student beating her up ended up telling her to hit back.

I think they felt bad because I kept getting beaten. They ended up saying, ‘You hit me too,’ and held my hand, telling me to hit them like this.

Overall, this incident had a profound impact on her life.

I can laugh about it now, but after that incident, I was so traumatized that I was scared to go out alone and had trouble trusting people.
