On April 1, Lucas released the video for his new song “Renegade.”

Yet, while the song seemingly gained a lot of attention, stats for the track have been surprisingly low according to various accounts that look at the streaming and sold copies of K-pop idols.

According to @kchartsmaster, the song debuted on the Spotify Counter with 124,777 streams, which many thought wasn’t very high for such an established and famous idol.

When the stats were shared, netizens shared the shocking nature of the low engagement. Many pointed out other groups with much bigger stream statistics, whether it was debut tracks or songs long after they were released.

The Hanteo chart’s numbers also seemed shocking to netizens as it was revealed he had only sold 7000 copies in what seemed like the first 24 hours.

Many of the comments were quite malicious, but some pointed out that the low numbers were shocking because it seemed unheard of for any artist from the “Big 4” companies, especially someone like Lucas, who is already a known and established artist.

Even the latest update from Hanteo had fans interested, as the number had not increased much at all, especially from someone with such a huge profile and from one of the biggest K-Pop companies.

Lucas’s release has already sparked heavy criticism and divided fans, and it’s not surprising that the alleged stats for “Renegade” have surprised fans, considering the promotions from SM Entertainment.
