Former Popular Idol Opens Up On Her Failure To Re-Debut Twice

A former beloved K-Pop idol opened up about her two failed attempts to re-enter the idol world after leaving the group.

A recent video titled “After the Devil’s Editing Controversy… The Youngest Member of a Girl Group Returns More Mature, Stunning Visuals” was posted on YouTube.

In the video, Kwon Chae Won (formerly known as Eunchae) talked about her activities with DIA, stating, “We didn’t disband, but all the members’ contracts were terminated, so each is walking their own path. Our group chat is still active.”

She then addressed the “devil’s editing” controversy that arose during her appearance on the survival program Universe Ticket. She explained, “At first, the reaction was poor, so it became a dark moment, not just a minor mistake. Honestly, I was lacking in some areas, and I was too ambitious with my song choice.

She added, “Even though the producer warned me against it, I really wanted to perform that song. The title was ‘Main Character,’ and I wanted to be the main character.

She also revealed her experience trying out as a virtual idol. “At the time, virtual idols were trending. I had to wear a full black bodysuit and a helmet for facial motion capture,” she said.

She continued, “It was really a tough process. The stress was high because I couldn’t perform on stage as myself, but I wanted to be on stage at any cost, so I took on the challenge.

However, she revealed that her second attempt at becoming an idol ended in failure as well. Kwon Chae Won said, “The company suddenly disappeared while we were preparing. We had been preparing for over six months and had completed recording the title track and choreography, but it all vanished in the end,” expressing her disappointment.

Kwon Chae Won debuted in 2016 under the stage name Eunchae as a member of DIA and was active until 2022. After her contract was terminated, she has continued her career as an actress under her real name.
