Former PRISTIN Member Kyla Reveals Why She Took A Hiatus And Details About PRISTIN’s Disbandment

She revealed it all.

Former PRISTIN member Kyla released her first YouTube video on her personal channel and answered questions from her viewers. She ended up discussing about her injury that led to her hiatus and PRISTIN V, and the biggest question, “what happened to PRISTIN?”.

While answering a few of her questions from fans, she revealed some of her current favorite idols in K-Pop right now.

I have a lot.

When I was first getting into K-Pop as a young child, I really looked up to After School and 소녀시대 aka Girls Generation, and they were really the inspiration that led me to wanting to become trainee and wanting to become an idol. So it’s always been a huge part of me.

And other groups that I like that are currently out and performing are like BLACKPINK, TWICE, (G)-IDLE, LOONA, ITZY. My god there’s so many different girl groups. They’re so talented and obviously, you know, although we disbanded, PRISTIN will always be my number one.

After hinting that she may be releasing a new song where fans can hear her rap again, she then talked about PRISTIN’s unreleased songs.

We have, I’d say, around 20 to 30 unreleased songs from our trainee days. We’ve made a lot, we’ve been songwriting for several years now.

So it’s always fun to look back and see all of the songs that we produced, and see how much we’ve grown over time.

Kyla did say that while the PRISTIN members haven’t used their full group chat in a while, the members still talk with each other individually.

We actually haven’t used our group chat in a while, but we still talk individually and we send each other memes and that’s always fun.

She mentioned that she has no regrets becoming an idol, and would choose idol life again if she had to start over.

Yes.

I have absolutely no regrets when it comes to becoming an idol, like I understand that due to the disbandment that there could be this misconception that I wouldn’t want to become an idol again or I would just not do it if I could turn back time, and that’s definitely not true.

Like, I loved the amazing experience that I had, I loved being able to get to know the Korean culture and history a bit better, and I think that it’s really important.

And I think that, um, even if I had to redo all of it, good and bad, I would definitely do it.

Nearing the end of her video, she talked about how PRISTIN V happened, and her injury that led to her hiatus.

So, how did Pristin V happen.

I would say that it happened because I was on hiatus here, resting due to an injury and the company thought that it would be best if, instead of having just nine girls performing, to have just five come out as a subunit and release a song that matched their characters, and I think that it was an awesome concept.

An awesome song and awesome choreography and I think that the people that did do that song really… nailed it.

Finally, she answered the biggest questions PRISTIN fans have been dying to know the answer to… “What happened to PRISTIN?”.

I know that a lot of you guys are anxious to hear my answer. And… What I can tell you is that a lot of things happen behind the scenes that you guys are unaware of. And ultimately, we all came to the decision.

We all came to this mutual agreement that it would be best if we all went our separate paths.

We all have our own callings and we thought that at this point it would be best if we went in our separate directions.

And while our time as PRISTIN is, was incredibly meaningful, it was important that we sort of branched out and try different things this time.

She explained her injury was a big cause of it, and that it was not related to the negative comments some netizens were saying towards her.

And also, a lot of you guys have sort of speculated why I went on hiatus and I can tell you now that it wasn’t because of the hate comments, it wasn’t because you know of, my weight and how that affected my mental health.

I can understand why you would say that but, in actuality the reason why I went on hiatus is because I ended up getting injured. I got a concussion while filming our second music video, and the doctors and my company decided that it would be best if I took a period to rest and recover from this injury.

They all thought that it was important that I fully recovered before we continued on with any new promotions. So that’s the reason, and let me just say that I know that there have been a lot of rumors, there have been a lot of speculations, there are a lot of been, there have been a lot of articles that sort of went around. Saying oh, this is what happened or oh, this is what happened and let me just tell you. That’s not true.

You guys can speculate what happened all you want, but ultimately, we all just thought that it was best if we disband it and although it is an unfortunate situation, we all take our best memories and our best experience from PRISTIN. And we’re just, we’re all so very grateful that it happened and we had all of these amazing experiences together, and I think that that’s the most important part. You know, it was a very positive experience all around, and I’m gonna never trade it for the world. So, please do not listen to any rumors.
