G-Dragon Hailed For His Clever Move To Avoid Political Controversy Amid Election Season
BIGBANG member G-Dragon is receiving high praise from netizens for his clever way of staying out of political controversies this election season.

On May 29, KST, the rapper posted a selfie on his Instagram story with the caption, “Off to L.A.”

He followed up the candid picture with another photo, one of a dark sky with a bright red sun rising.

Though G-Dragon made no attempts to explain either of these posts, netizens have interpreted them in light of the country’s current political climate. There seems to be a consensus among Korean netizens that the image of a red sun was a calculated move on G-Dragon’s part to neutralize any political association that might be made with the blue lights in the previous story.

- “People who over-interprete things are so weird.”
- “The best option is not to get involved with politics.”
- “That’s really smart.”
- “And he posted both of them almost at the same time.”
- “He posted the blue first and then the red, LOL. But let’s simply not meddle in politics.”
Since the two colors are associated with two of the most prominent political parties in current South Korean politics, many idols have gotten entangled in controversies for posting pictures containing either of the colors. The parties also have their distinctive symbols and numbers, which have also landed celebrities like aespa‘s Karina in trouble in the past few days.
