How The K, J & C Contestants On “Girls Planet 999” Are Different From Each Other, According To Judge

Dance Master Jang Joo Hee explained what sets the groups apart.

One of the most unique aspects of Mnet‘s latest survival show, Girls Planet 999, is that just one-third of the contestants are Korean, with the remaining two-thirds hailing from Japan and Chinese-speaking territories. But while all the contestants are competing against each other for the same spots in the final lineup, the K, J, and C-Groups are very different from each other according to one of the show’s judges.

The original Girls Planet 999 lineup brought together 33 Korean contestants, 33 Japanese contestants, and 33 contestants from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Now, with the finale two weeks away, just eight to nine trainees from each group remain.

Naturally, since each country’s pop industry has its own training system and pathways for aspiring idols, contestants range in skill and specialties across the K, J, and C-Groups. But, according to Girls Planet 999 judge and trainer Jang Joo Hee, who serves as one of the Dance Masters, their personalities are also completely different too.

Jang Joo Hee says that these contestants are “more on the introverted side.” Despite that, however, she also says they “catch on really quickly when given feedback.”

Finally, the remaining K-Group contestants are CLC‘s Yujin, Guinn Myah, Huening Bahiyyih, former BustersKang Yeseo, Cherry Bullet’s Bora, Kim Chaehyun, Kim Dayeon, Kim Suyeon, and Seo Youngeun.

Interestingly, Jang Joo Hee explained that the Korean Girls Planet 999 contestants are a “mix” of C-Group’s confidence and passion plus J-Group’s introversion and quick learning. “K-Group members come prepped with both C-Group and J-Group’s strengths,” she revealed.
