GOT7’s BamBam Under Fire For Comments About NewJeans’ Haerin; Label ABYSS Company Threatens Legal Action Against Malicious Commenters

Recently, some comments that GOT7‘s BamBam made about NewJeans member Haerin while on Bam’s House have been heavily criticized by netizens.

While talking to YouTuber Poongja during the episode — released back in late February — the topic of who BamBam is a fan of these days comes up around 10:40. He mentions aespa‘s Winter and NewJeans’ Haerin, saying that their songs feel healing to him. He also says that he seems to like women with short hair.

Poongja: She’s pretty.

BamBam: Winter and… Haerin.

Poongja: From NewJeans!

BamBam: Right, from NewJeans. Listening to their songs… It’s healing. To put it simply, I think I like women with short hair.

Poongja: Avoiding me in every direction, huh?

Later on in the video, around 12:30, Poongja asks BamBam to choose between Nayeon (from Transit Love, not the TWICE member), or Haerin. He chooses Haerin, but then seems to second-guess himself as he brings up her young age (16 at this time), and that it’s “risky” to mention liking her as a fan.

BamBam: Haerin? From NewJeans?

Poongja: Right.

BamBam: Haerin. Except she’s too young… Wait, yeah. She’s literally too young.

Poongja: Who are you even talking to? Is your CEO here somewhere?

BamBam: No, I’m- I mean, it’s kind of risky.

Since BamBam is 25, netizens began to criticize his comments online, saying that it’s “creepy” and inappropriate for him to have such interest in an underage idol.

An entire Reddit post was even created on the topic, with over 700 comments and 1.5k upvotes at this time.

Others, however, think that what he said was being taken out of context in just the clips that have been spreading around on social media like wildfire, and that the entire episode needs to be watched to get the full picture.

Earlier today, BamBam’s label ABYSS Company shared an announcement that they would be taking legal action against “malicious commenters”. While it wasn’t mentioned what exactly caused the announcement to be made, the timing makes it seem like they are targeting people who made negative comments about the Bam’s House clips.
