GOT7’s Youngjae Gives Insight Into How Idols Can Date Secretly
K-Pop idols usually try to keep their relationships under wraps for privacy and to avoid backlash. For example, when DAWN and HyunA‘s past relationship was revealed, it ultimately led to both of them leaving CUBE Entertainment.
So, it’s completely understandable why idols choose to hide their love lives. GOT7‘s Youngjae recently gave some hints as to how idols can keep their relationships a secret!
Youngjae recently appeared on YouTuber Pungja‘s drinking program Pungja Loves Alcohol to promote his latest release, “Errr Day.”
The two chatted about many subjects, like GOT7’s future plans…

Pungja is known for her fun personality, so it’s no surprise the topic turned to dating very quickly. After Youngjae explained why he wrote a love song, Pungja asks if he had ever been contacted by an ex-girlfriend who thought a song was about her.
Pungja: Have any of your exes contacted you after listening to your songs?
Youngjae: No, never
Pungja then asks what Youngjae would do if one did reach out, to which he replies “then, I’ll be like “well, it’s not about you.”
The two stay on the topic of dating throughout the episode, with Pungja asking Youngjae, who has been active as an idol for ten years if he has any tips on dating for newbie idols — specifically on how not to get caught.
He says the critical thing is to not “meet outside.”

Youngjae then says that once you go outside, you’re basically “caught” already.
Don’t go outside, you’ll get caught no matter what. Just consider it caught once you leave. Everyone knows.

When Pungja later asks what he thinks about newbie idols having public relationships, Youngjae’s advice is still, “don’t do it.”

Youngjae giving his honest thoughts on a subject like dating is very refreshing, and hopefully, idols will be able to date freely without backlash if they choose!
