Shortly after the group’s debut, an anonymous person alleged that they were a former classmate of the idol, and claimed that she was violent during her middle school days. The post also claimed that Ian was involved in sexually harassing teachers at the school.

Many fans have shared their disbelief over the story, citing the other instances newly debuted SM idols were targeted with similar rumors.

As fans have come to the idol’s defense, some of the stories about Ian from her former classmates have surfaced.

When Ian was first introduced as a member of Hearts2Hearts earlier this year, multiple accounts of her interactions with classmates were shared online. One alleged classmate claimed that Ian had a “cold” appearance but was actually friendly.

Another account mentioned the fish tank incident specifically, but explained that it wasn’t an incident of one-sided bullying. They stated that Ian was unique, but that the circulating story was being spread in a malicious way.

I didn’t see her much in middle school, so I don’t know about that, but she wasn’t the type to do those things.
Honestly, Ian just didn’t get along well with the kids in that area, so they often clashed.
To be real, rather than being a typical bully, she just had conflicts with everyone—kind of like she was “bullying the world” instead.
