A Helpful Beginner's Guide To Super Rookie Group MCND

MCND is a new five member boy group from TOP Media. Their name stands for ‘Music Creates New Dream’. A pre-debut single TOP GANG, was released on January 2, before making their official debut with ICE AGE on February 27. They have not yet chosen an official fandom name or color yet.

First let’s introduce the members!

Castle J (Son Seong Jun)

Castle J is the leader of the group and was born on May 31, 1999. He is skilled in producing and has remixed most of the tracks they danced to pre-debut. He was also a child actor and had a short role in the drama The Queen’s Classroom. He is a Theater and Film major and joined the company in 2015 along with other members Minjae and Huijun.

BIC (Nam Seung Min)

BIC was born on April 25, 2001 and is the main dancer and rapper of the group. He trained for 5-6 years before debuting with MCND. He is currently still in high school and shares a room with BIC and Huijun.

Minjae (Song Min Jae)

Minjae was born on August 23, 2003 and has the position of lead vocalist and lead dancer. Out of all his nicknames, he enjoys ‘cherry bear’ the most because he feels it suits him well. Minjae and Huijun previously performed together as MINJAEHUJIUN on the show program THE FAN.

Huijun (No Hui Jun)

Huijun was born on October 7, 2003 and is the main vocalist and lead dancer of the group. He is a high school student and shares his room with Huijun and BIC. He learned dancing in America with Castle J, Minjae, BIC back in 2016.

Win (Bang Jun Hyuk)

Win is the maknae of the group and was born on December 19, 2004. He was on the show Under19, but left due to health reasons. He trained for a little under 3 years before debuting as MNCD. He is currently a middle school student and shares a room with Win and Minjae.

Now let’s look at some of their releases!

TOP GANG

This single was released on January 2 as a pre-debut song and received much praise from new fans and long time K-Pop fans as it was self-composed by the members themselves. Many were surprised at their talent at such a young age.

ICE AGE

Their debut track “ICE AGE” was released on February 27, 2020 and has already reached 15M views on YouTube in just over a month! The members’ attitude and energy can be seen through the performance of the music video and is a heavy hip-hop style track that focuses a bit more on the rap line. The confidence they exude is hard to find especially in a rookie idol group that just debuted.

Spring

“Spring” is their most recent release which dropped on April 9, 2020. This new release has a pretty heavy trap influence mixed with hip-hop. Luckily, they added in more vocal lines, saving it from becoming too aggressive. It seems they are still trying to find their own style and we are excited to see what else they will be releasing in the near future.

While many groups are categorized by certain skills such as the rap line, dance line, and vocal line, MCND proves that all five of them are amazing dancers. They are known for their dance covers which range from BTS‘s “MIC Drop” to EVERGLOW‘s “DUN DUN.”
