Top K-Drama Actress’ House Seized By Her Agency
Actress Hwang Jung Eum’s former agency, Y1 Entertainment, has placed a provisional seizure on her luxury detached home in Itaewon.
According to SPOTV News on February 13, Y1 Entertainment recently filed for a provisional seizure of the land and building of the Itaewon property owned by Hwang Jung Eum.
The Seoul Central District Court accepted the request on February 10 and issued the seizure order. The claimed amount is ₩282 million KRW (about $196,000 USD). Hwang purchased the detached house in 2020 for ₩4.60 billion KRW (about $3.19 million USD).
Tensions between Hwang and Y1 Entertainment had recently been detected. After news broke that Hwang’s one-person agency had not been registered as a popular culture and arts planning business, Y1 Entertainment terminated their contract with her.

“On November 27, 2025, we notified Hwang Jung Eum of the termination of her exclusive contract, and the notice was accepted. The exclusive contract between both parties has already ended. Accordingly, we clearly state that we have no involvement or responsibility whatsoever regarding Hwang Jung Eum’s current and future activities, personal matters, or any related issues. We do not plan to make any further statements or responses regarding this matter.”
Amid this situation, it was revealed that Y1 Entertainment had filed a provisional seizure against its former actress, drawing attention to the background of the conflict between the two sides.
Last year, Hwang Jung Eum was indicted without detention on charges of embezzling corporate funds and was sent to trial. She was accused of receiving ₩700 million KRW (about $486,000 USD) from loans taken out by her wholly owned personal entertainment agency under the pretext of temporary payments and investing it in cryptocurrency, among other actions, embezzling approximately ₩4.34 billion KRW (about $3.01 million USD) in company funds through December of that year. She later fully repaid the disputed amount, including through real estate assets, and in September of last year was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for four years.
