A member of KATSEYE has unexpectedly sparked accusations of promoting “eating disorders” with her recent photo.
Megan, the member in question, got caught up in these accusations after posting multiple selfies on her Instagram account.
The post, captioned “Selfies this week,” featured one photo of Megan wearing an off-the-shoulder top, looking directly into the camera. However, what struck many people as odd was the visible toilet seat in the background.
The picture was met with a rather unexpected interpretation, with some calling it a “body check.” In the world of social media, a “body check” usually refers to pictures or videos that encourage viewers to focus on their weight and appearance. The phenomenon of “body checking” exists in the real world as well and is often observed to be a compulsive symptom of people struggling with eating disorders and body image issues.
This accusation also brought back a screen recording of a Pinterest board, allegedly curated by Megan in the past, that was full of posts about losing weight and dieting.

Fans, however, stepped in to defend Megan, pointing out how quickly people rushed to find faults with these young artists. They also argued that the social and cultural pressure on young girls to stick to a certain beauty standard is a common girlhood experience, and Megan should not be crucified for it.
