Handsome Idol Shares Most Embarrassing Rejection After Asking Out A Girl—And What Never To Do

K-Pop star-turned-actor Seo In Guk got brutally honest about one of his most embarrassing dating memories.

In the latest episode of SBS’s My Little Old Boy, Seo In Guk appeared alongside fellow idol-actress Kang Mina and actor Bae Yoo Ram to offer help with his love life. While talking about past crushes and confessions, Bae Yoo Ram admitted that he had confessed his feelings before and been rejected. He then turned the question toward Seo In Guk, assuming the actor-singer probably had no such experience.

Seo In Guk immediately surprised everyone, noting, “I’ve had so many.” He then revealed one especially painful memory from his younger years. According to Seo In Guk, he once confessed his feelings to an older girl while they were riding a Ferris wheel. The setting may have sounded romantic, but the result was anything but.

As soon as we got on the Ferris wheel, I said, ‘Noona, I have something to tell you.’ I told her like a man, sang for her, and asked her to go out with me.

Unfortunately, the confession did not go the way he hoped. The girl rejected him, saying they should just remain “noona and dongsaeng,” or “just friends.” Seo In Guk shared that he tried to play it cool at the time and replied, “Of course.” But the awkwardness did not end there.

I just sat there and looked out the window the whole ride until we got off the wheel.

Kang Mina immediately reacted with secondhand embarrassment, saying the situation sounded “suffocating.” The painful memory also taught Seo In Guk a dating lesson that he now passes on to others: do not confess through a song.

That’s why whenever someone says they’re going to confess by playing the piano or singing or whatever, I do everything in my power to stop them. Women don’t actually like it at all!

Kang Mina strongly agreed, adding that piano or singing confessions personally make her cringe indeed!
