Inappropriate For Mother-Son? — 54-Year-Old Actress And 33-Year-Old Actor’s Magazine Shoot Raises Eyebrows
Actors Go Hyun Jung and Jang Dong Yoon, who are co-starring in SBS‘s new crime thriller K-Drama, Queen Mantis, have stirred up some controversy with their latest magazine shoot.

The two actors recently appeared in the September issue of Dazed Korea, showcasing their visuals in a captivating pictorial. The theme was kept chic and casual, with Go in a white sleeveless top, wide-legged denim, and a brown jumper. Jang Dong Yoon contrasted with darker hues, sporting a navy knit and straight denim that emphasized his tall and lean build.

While the pictorial itself was stunning, the visual chemistry between the two sparked some divided reactions. Though the photoshoot was not overtly intimate, the poses and subtle gaze between the actors prompted many to question whether the pictorial was appropriate for an on-screen mother-son duo.

Even Queen Mantis director Byun Young Joo responded to the pictorial, joking that it looked like a couple concept. While Go protested, Jang responded, saying that the 54-year-old actress indeed looked like his peer, prompting Byung to pull the leg of Go Hyun Jung even more.

Byun Young Joo: On my way here I saw the photos, but they weren’t like a mother and son relationship like in the drama. They seemed like a couple concept.
Go Hyun Jung: What are you talking about? That’s ridiculous. (Laughs)
Jang Dong Yoon: She does look like she’s my age.
Byun Young Joo: She doesn’t look your age. That would be a lie. But she looks a little older than Dong Yoon. The kind of couple you would easily come across in real life.
Netizens have also given mixed reactions to the photoshoot, some praising their chemistry. Others were reminded of Go Hyun Jung’s 2009 K-Drama, Queen Seondeok, where one scene between her and her on-screen son, Kim Nam Gil, showcased such electrifying chemistry that it had become a running joke among fans.
