IU’s Physical Safety Threatened, Family Members Harassed
Singer-actress IU has been subjected to multiple incidents of serious privacy breaches.
According to a formal statement given by IU’s label, EDAM Entertainment, the singer and her family members have had their safety threatened by multiple individuals.
The label mentioned that these individuals turned up at the artist’s home, family residence, and even near the company. Apart from threatening the singer’s safety, some of these people also demanded money.
After EDAM Entertainment initiated legal action, these individuals were booked by law enforcements. The label mentioned that the investigations were still in process. They also emphasized that they would pursue criminal prosecution of any individual committing such crimes, warning against further attempts to visist the artist or her family.
The notice also mentioned other kinds of harassment IU had gone through, including malicious and sexually harassing posts online. Multiple such social media account owners have been penalized by the court already, while more cases are ongoing. EDAM Entertainment also partially revealed the usernames that were involved in these cases.
The extent of harassment has left fans baffled, with many praising EDAM Entertainment for dropping the names of the perpetrators and going after them with strict legal action.
