Jannabi Visits Seongnam City Hall And Claims Innocence
The indie band, Jannabi, recently visited Seongnam City Hall and claimed innocence in regard to their recent controversies.
Jannabi, whose members are all from Seongnam, was originally set to be appointed the new ambassadors of the city.
After news of former member Yoo Young Hyun‘s school violence and member Choi Jung Hoon‘s involvement in the Kim Hak Eui scandal, plans for their appointment became unclear.
As a result, it appears that Jannabi took matters into their own hands and visited the Seongnam City Hall to deliver an apology and provide an explanation.
According to YTN Star, Jannabi’s manager visited the city hall and delivered an apology while also claiming the members’ innocence.
(The members) are overall innocent. There is no problem. It was a unilateral report (by the press). We are currently making contact with SBS.

A representative of Seongnam City Hall stated that plans to appoint Jannabi as their ambassador have become unclear due to the controversy that surrounds them.
Because of the social controversies, we cannot say that we will proceed (with the plans).

Meanwhile, Jannabi has issued an explanation for the controversies of both Yoo Young Hyun and Choi Jung Hoon.
Translation: “Hello, this is Peponi Music.
We have been spending our days with a heavy heart due to the recent controversies surrounding Jannabi. However, because we believe that the grief and concerns of those who have given their love and support for Jannabi’s music are greater, we believe that we must clearly reveal the inaccurate information that is being reported and deliver our statement in regards to the current situation.
1. First, Yoo Young Hyun, who has taken responsibility for his actions of the past and left the group has continuously been in contact with the netizen (“friend” hereinafter) who uploaded the post and has met with the friend’s parents to deliver his sincere apology. Yoo Young Hyun has indicated that he will continue to make an effort to comfort the friend’s sense of loss and do his best so that the friend can consistently heal.
2. What vocalist Choi Jung Hoon revealed through social media after a media outlet recently reported on his father is the true fact and once again, we announce that he had absolutely no intention of avoiding the issue. The whole issue is related to his father’s business and he only let his father borrow his name as his son. He did not attend any extraordinary general meeting and entrusted all authority to a person designated by his father. He did not know anything about what went on (in the business) since and did not participate in management.
3. Choi Jung Hoon’s father was not booked or indicted following the prosecution investigation results on June 4 and prosecution has also notified that Choi Jung Hoon does not need to be investigated. He is innocent and irrelevant to the suspicions and controversies that have been brought up and we ask that you refrain from reporting inaccurate information and malicious speculations regarding Choi Jung Hoon’s father any further.
