BTS’s Jin Explains Why He Didn’t Participate In April Fool’s Day This Year
On April 1, fans around the world eagerly awaited BTS‘s April Fool’s Day shenanigans, but for the first time in seven years, those shenanigans never came.
From 2014 to 2019, the members have gotten into the April Fool’s Day spirit by changing their Twitter layout and handle, sending out funny tweets, and much more.
For Jin, who roasts and trolls fans the other 364 days of the year, it’s practically a holiday in his honor. For past April Fool’s Days, Jin used a tiger prawn as a telephone, turned BTS’s Twitter into a Super Mario stan account, and flooded ARMY’s timelines with alpacas — just to name a few!
On Weverse, a fan wrote about how they couldn’t think of ways to celebrate 2020’s April Fool’s Day. “Today is April Fool’s Day, are there any funny lies..Even if I want to joke around, I can’t because I have nothing to do TT”.
In reply, Jin explained why he chose not do April Fool’s Day either. With so much going on in the world–most notably, COVID-19–Jin didn’t feel comfortable joking around like he usually does on international prank day.
Me too.. since there are so many difficult incidents happening, I’d feel uncomfortable doing something.
— Jin
Although everyone loves BTS’s April Fool’s Day traditions, Jin’s awareness of–and sensitivity to–the happenings around him is another reason why ARMY admires him so much.
Hopefully, the world will be a more cheerful place by next year’s April Fool’s Day. Until then, relive BTS’s past pranks here:
