J.Y. Park’s activities have not always been as well-received outside of music. More specifically, his religious activities have been highly scrutinized, related to his accused link to the Salvation Sect, a cult group linked to the Sewol Ferry tragedy.

Koreans have been very concerned with cult activity due to multiple organizations and their deadly actions being exposed, like the JMS (Jeong Myeong Seok or Jesus Morning Star) group. Netflix’s In The Name Of God: A Holy Betrayal put an international spotlight on multiple organizations.

The revelation of K-Pop album distributor Synnara‘s cult affiliation shocked many and proved that these organizations are truly everywhere.

Recently, a K-Pop fan shared a video of JYP expressing surprise at the entertainer’s status as a pastor.

J.Y. Park shared Firstfruit‘s (the church organization he is affiliated with) weekly schedule of church services, including two in English and Korean, and provided a link to an American-based website.

The website details how one can attend virtual or in-person services, though you must register for the site to access the latter information.

The United States version of First Fruits has only been active for around a month, with J.Y Park’s introductory video being released on February 18, 2024. Christianity is evangelical, meaning believers will spread “good news,” so First Fruits’ outreach is not entirely suspicious.

However, many Korean-based cults have international outreach to recruit.
