KATSEYE’s Post About HYBE’s Upcoming Girl Group Hit With Anger

“It’s not too late to delete…”

HYBE recently announced a new global girl group, seemingly after the popularity of KATSEYE.

HYBE Announces New Upcoming Girl Group

The lineup of PRELUDE: The Final Piece consists of former Dream Academy stars Emily, Samara, and Lexie, with many netizens believing that the survival show announced will pick the final member.

On August 29 (KST), the intro film for the project was posted.

It showed the members and teased what netizens might expect.

Yet, when the project was first introduced, it caused a stir among KATSEYE fans who believed the whole Dream Academy seemed pointless if some of those who didn’t make the group already had a guaranteed debut.

It meant that when KATSEYE retweeted the intro video, it sparked major backlash.

Netizens hit back at the tweet, claiming that HYBE or the group’s social media team did it without consulting the members, especially due to the past racism allegations against Samara. Others also hated that HYBE was seemingly using KATSEYE to promote the new global group while they are still rookies, and that it didn’t seem right after all the KATSEYE members had been through to gain support.
