Kim Sejeong Tearfully Explains Why She Had Low Self-Esteem Despite Her Success

She found success as a solo celebrity as well as a member of I.O.I.

Former I.O.I member and current singer and actress, Kim Sejeong recently made an appearance on JTBC‘s Knowing Bros where she revealed why she cries so much these days as well as her days of low self-esteem as an I.O.I member.

She’s starring in the recent OCN drama, The Uncanny Counter, and on the variety show, it was revealed that she’s been crying all the time ever since she joined the cast.

Kim Sejeong confessed that she’s been so happy as a cast of the drama that she’s been crying non-stop.

I was really happy while filming ‘The Uncanny Counter’, and as a result, I became a cryer. The first time we met as cast and crew, we talked for hours about the drama. I was so happy listening to my superiors talk about their work. Whenever I drink with them now, I just cry.

She then went on to share that there was a time she suffered from low self-esteem as an I.O.I member.

There was a time when my self-esteem hit rock bottom. But I got through it thanks to my group.

As an I.O.I member who also had a successful career as a solo celebrity, Kim Sejeong was uncertain about what kind of love and attention she deserved.

It’s true I was loved as Kim Sejeong, but I think I was ultimately loved because of my activities with I.O.I. So I wasn’t sure if it was right for me to receive love as just Kim Sejeong.

So a part of the reason why Kim Sejeong was so happy on the set of the drama was that everybody called her name.

Whenever I go to the set, everybody calls me, ‘Sejeong!’ I loved that.
