On March 6, KST, Sports Chosun reported that Kim Seon Ho chose Fantagio over Song Joong Ki’s agency because they offered him a lumpsum as the signing-on fee.

It is being reported that Fantagio has paid Kim ₩2.00 billion KRW (about $1.38 million USD) as the contract fee. Industry insiders have also stated that the label dished out such a huge amount because they needed a new star actor to lead the charge with their already existing star actor and ASTRO member Cha Eunwoo gearing up to enlist in the military.

The news has created quite a heated discussion online, with many netizens questioning whether the actor was worth such a high fee.

  • “Seriously ridiculous.”
  • “Fantagio still has no sense. They’re the number one company at wasting money.”
  • “Completely ridiculous.”
  • “Huh?”
  • “Kim Seon Ho is a great actor, so he’ll probably have a lot of projects to do as an actor, but it’ll be hard for him to become an actor who shoots commercials. So this is quite surprising.”
