Kim Soo Hyun’s Agency CEO Takes Drastic Measures

He quit.

CEO Ahn Sung Soo of Gold Medalist, actor Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, has left the company. According to a TenAsia report on November 28, Ahn Sung Soo stepped down from his role at Gold Medalist about two months ago. Ahn had appeared alongside Kim Soo Hyun at the actor’s press conference held on March 31 at the Stanford Hotel in Mapo-gu, Seoul. The vacancy left by Ahn has reportedly been filled by an executive who previously worked at Hanwha.

This means the head of the company has changed while the dispute between Kim Soo-hyun and the late Kim Sae Ron’s bereaved family is still unresolved. Ahn, who joined Gold Medalist earlier this year, left the company after about nine months.

Prior to Kim Soo Hyun’s scandal becoming public, another figure, referred to as A, who had served as CEO of Gold Medalist around December last year, had also left the company. A was the person who handled negotiations related to compensation for damages following the late Kim Sae Ron’s drunk driving incident. It is said that at the time, A understood Kim Sae Ron’s difficult situation and, despite not recovering the loaned funds, tried to prevent gift tax from being imposed.

Currently, Kim Soo Hyun is facing allegations that he dated the late Kim Sae Ron for six years, starting from when she was a minor. Kim Soo Hyun initially denied being in a relationship with her, but later changed his stance, saying they “dated after she became an adult.” On February 16, Kim Soo Hyun’s birthday, Kim Sae Ron was found dead at her home in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. Kim Soo Hyun and the late actress’s family have been locked in a tense legal battle.
