Media Claims Attack On Kim Soo Hyun’s Whistleblower Was Fabricated

It was previously claimed that an informant in the case between Kim Sae Ron and Kim Soo Hyun was attacked by assailants while traveling overseas. It was claimed that he was attacked by two Josunjok men, ethnically-Korean Chinese citizens. The matter was turned over to the FBI.
The recording was made with the consent of the late Kim Sae Ron and the informant. It contained shocking and explicit content. The informant who has the recording was attacked by two assailants of Korean-Chinese descent on May 1.
The case is being investigated by the FBI and not the New Jersey State Police. The informant will be assessed as disabled, as a large portion of the nerves on their hand were torn. They were also stabbed nine times in the neck.

It was reported by MT News on May 20, 2025, that the claim was allegedly fake. According to the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in New York on May 19, 2025, there has been no report or arrest of a Korean national committing crimes such as attempted murder against another Korean in its jurisdiction. The consulate stated the following to MT News.
“Under Article 36 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, if a Korean national is arrested or detained, the local law enforcement agency must promptly notify the consulate of the respective country. We have not received any such notification from local law enforcement.”
MT News claimed that this meant the alleged incident was not reported to local investigative authorities. However, the Consulate also added that they did not know anything with regards to the FBI.
“It is not information held or managed by our institution.”
Given that Garo Sero’s claims were pertaining to ethnic Koreans of Chinese nationality, and clearly states that the case was being investigated by the FBI rather than the local consul, MT News’ report only serves to confirm that Koreans were not dispatched in the attack.
