Korean Student Apprehended For Illegally Filming A Chinese Woman — Video Goes Insanely Viral
Controversy is spreading both domestically and internationally following a viral video from a Chinese netizen. In the video, a Chinese girl is seen apprehending a Korean man for allegedly taking a molka, an illegally filmed video, of her. The Korean male was revealed to be a high school student. He was stopped at the scene on suspicion of illegal filming at the 2025 Shanghai Motor Show, which was held from April 23, 2025, to May 2, 2025.
The incident occurred when a high school in Busan, which was on a 5-day field trip, visited the Shanghai Motor Show. A Chinese woman, hereby referred to as Ms. B, felt that male student, hereby referred to as Mr. A, was filming her without consent. She confronted him and demanded to check his phone’s photo gallery. According to a video taken at the time, footage was found on A’s phone showing a zoomed-in shot of Ms. B sitting in a squatting position, taken from the front.
Ms. B dragged Mr. A to the security staff on hand, claiming that she had been secretly filmed. All Mr. A could say was “sorry” and “please, no,” repeatedly in English. He eventually broke down in tears as he was brought to security.
The incident spread rapidly after Ms. B uploaded a video of the situation to a Chinese online community. Chinese netizens who saw the video strongly criticized the act, saying, “He should be reported to the police” and “This is clearly sexual harassment.” Korean netizens also criticized the incident, calling it “a national embarrassment.”
The high school that Mr. A belongs to told Yonhap News TV in a phone interview that he did not do it intentionally.
“Mr. A did not film the woman intentionally. The police who responded at the scene had the video deleted and closed the case, allowing the student to return to Korea safely. There was a language barrier at the scene, and no teacher was nearby, so the student became flustered and cried.”
The school also stated that Mr. A began receiving malicious comments and online abuse via social media, and is currently in severe psychological distress. The video has since amassed over 8 million views on X.
