Korea’s OG “Visual Queen” Gets Hit With The Infamous “Getty Images Curse”
Actress Kim Tae Hee, often recognized as the “visual queen” of the Korean entertainment industry, has triggered intense discourse over her appearance after recently attending a premiere in the US.

On August 5 (local time), Kim appeared at the world premiere of the American TV series Butterfly in New York City, marking her much-awaited entry into Hollywood.

The actress turned heads in a sleek off-shoulder black mini dress, paired with statement earrings and strappy, crystal heels. Her long, wavy hair added to the timeless elegance that the veteran actress is known for.

However, Kim’s close-up shots taken by Getty Images became the center of a heated debate. The images showed visible wrinkles around her eyes and mouth. Thanks to the angle and the lighting, Kim Tae Hee’s under-eye bags and crow’s feet also appeared pronounced.

Some also commended the actress for embracing her aging body gracefully instead of choosing to maintain a false youthful image.
Meanwhile, Butterfly marks Kim Tae Hee’s official debut in Hollywood, even though the details about her role are still kept under wraps. The spy thriller series, adapted from a graphic novel of the same name, features other Korean stars in including Kim Ji Hoon, Park Hae Soo, Lee Il Hwa, and Sung Dong Il.
The six-episode series will premiere in South Korea on tvN starting August 22, KST.
