Kwon Eunbi, often dubbed the “Waterbomb Goddess,” went viral this year with her risqué performance and outfit choice. The response was mixed, with some lauding her bold choice, others criticizing it, and some expressing concern, wondering if going for such a provocative performance was her own decision after all.

“Misogyny!” Kwon Eunbi’s Sexy “WATERBOMB” Performance Outfit Sparks Heavily Divided Reactions

Amid these fierce debates, one netizen took to X (former Twitter) and shared a particularly upsetting incident involving Eunbi. In a now-deleted post, the OP (original poster) claimed that the idol constantly gets sexually harassed at university festivals. They mentioned that while performing at a particular university in Daejeon, Eunbi tried to interact with the audience while holding a mic in their direction, and a guy suddenly shouted an inappropriate remark about her breasts right in her face.

The OP also clarified that the incident happened at their former university, and they witnessed it first-hand. They also claimed that a video of the incident exists on the school’s online forum, but they refused to disclose the school’s name to protect the current students from backlash.

Though unverified, the anecdote has sparked intense debate about Eunbi’s Waterbomb performance, with many reiterating their fears about her well-being. While netizens acknowledged that Eunbi should not have to face sexual harassment regardless of what she chose to wear, they also expressed skepticism about how much her unburdened choice was reflected in her stage outfit and the dance moves that turned her performance into a spectacle this year.

Many also called out her company for its failure to protect her from sexual harassment, as well as the institution that failed to apologize and reprimand their student for his conduct.

Overall, there seems to be no disagreement over the fact that Eunbi should be free to wear whatever she feels comfortable in, and it is the responsibility of the audience members to respect her as a human being. However, the ground reality appears to be bleak, given the constant harassment the idol has to endure. What fans want is for her to be able to make choices for herself without being humiliated simply for her body.
