Just two months after the passing of beloved Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, her ex-husband Wang Xiaofei is reportedly preparing to hold a wedding.
Sources close to the Chinese businessman have revealed that he is set to hold a wedding ceremony with his partner, Mandy Ma, on May 17 in Beijing. The couple had already registered their marriage in May last year.
The event is expected to be private, with invitations reportedly sent to a small group of close friends and family members. The wedding will take place at a hotel and preparations for the ceremony are already underway.
Mandy Ma (26 years old) is a businesswoman and online influencer. Like Wang, she has been married before. The couple have been seen together frequently in recent months, and Wang’s two children from his previous marriage to Barbie Hsu are also said to be in Beijing ahead of the ceremony.
Despite the upcoming celebration, public reaction has been divided. Wang faced backlash earlier this year for his emotional reaction following the news of Hsu’s death. He was seen expressing deep sorrow, even stating that he would “die for her,” shortly after her family confirmed her passing on February 3. Many online users have since criticized him for moving on so quickly.
On the other hand, some social media users on Weibo have defended Wang, arguing that he has the right to move forward with his life, especially given that his divorce from Hsu took place several years ago.
Barbie Hsu’s sudden passing shocked fans across Asia. She died on February 3 while traveling in Japan, reportedly due to pneumonia brought on by a severe case of the flu. Her funeral was held in Taiwan in March, with her husband DJ Koo, her mother, and sister Dee Hsu by her side.
