LE SSERAFIM’s Sakura Chooses The Most Meaningful Part About Living In A Foreign Country

LE SSERAFIM’s Sakura recently guested on YouTube channel ODG where she met and conversed with two children, a Korean boy and a Japanese girl.

While telling her story, Sakura opened up about the hardships she went through to debut in a K-Pop group. Not only was she living in a foreign country away from her family, she also barely spoke any Korean. She struggled to learn the language and adapt to a new country.

But it didn’t take long for her hard work to pay off, and she is now fluent in it!

Towards the end of the video, Sakura asked the little girl if she was interested in befriending a Korean. The girl shyly said yes, and Sakura offered her a simple yet meaningful piece of advice.

According to Sakura, making friends with people from other nationalities is important because it helps you get to know their true selves. It soon won’t matter what country they came from or what language they speak.

How should I say this… When you have a foreign friend, you get to see that person for who they are. You realize that the stereotype of being Japanese or Korean is useless.

Sakura’s words were likely based on experience, having lived in both Japan and Korea. She added that making different kinds of friends is a “good point of living in a foreign country.” It may be difficult at first, but she knows that it is worth the struggle and discomfort.

“So I wish you can make a Korean friend,” she concluded with a smile.
