The group debuted in 2008 and remained active till 2015 with significant commercial success. However, they went on a hiatus in 2015 after three of the four members, Seulong, Jinwoon, and Changmin, did not renew their contracts with JYP Entertainment. In 2017, the remaining member, Jo Kwon, also left the agency. But JYP Entertainment and the members assured fans that it didn’t mark the disbandment of their group.

2AM returned to the music scene in 2021 with an EP, Ballad 21 F/W. Now, the group is planning on an even grander comeback in early January 2024 in collaboration with HYBE Chairman Bang Si Hyuk.

Bang was often referred to as the “father figure” of the group due to his significant contribution to its formation and discography. The 2021 comeback title song, “Should’ve Known,” was also composed and written by Bang. Some of their older songs that he participated in include “Can’t Let You Go Even If I Die” and “You Wouldn’t Answer My Calls.”
