The investigation into this gruesome crime began when a taxi driver reported Jung to the police. He found her actions suspicious after observing her discarding a suitcase with blood stains near a riverside close to her residence. The judges stated, “In light of the defendant’s rugged childhood, it is difficult to hold her accountable for everything. By permanently separating the defendant from society, we hope to prevent a second offense and ensure that the defendant lives with remorse for her actions for life.”
Jung attempted to appeal for leniency, submitting over 10 apology letters during her first trial and 46 during the second. However, the gravity of her actions, coupled with her lack of personal connection to the victim, painted a chilling picture of a crime driven by morbid curiosity.
