On the show, Solbi recalled how the two became friends a decade ago. But when the show host mentioned how she wasn’t invited to the actress’s wedding until the “last minute,” Song Yi Woo admitted that her decision to get married was all in a rush.

Solbi: It’s been 10 years since Yi Woo and I became friends. When I first saw her, she was so beautiful. She came in with her hair flowing, wearing jeans, and she looked like Jun Ji Hyun. Then one day, she suddenly got married. I think she invited me really last-minute, maybe just a week or two before.

Song Yi Woo: Because I got married after only a month.

Then, Solbi asked the question that led to the revelation:

Solbi: For a while after you got married, you really lived like the perfect wife. When did the troubles start?

Song Yi Woo: Pretty quickly. We got divorced after just two years of marriage. I realized how hard it really is to live with someone. It can be even more complicated than learning to work with someone.

Song Yi Woo noted that her trouble with her ex-husband stemmed from her inability to see things eye-to-eye. Ultimately, these differences led to the end of their marriage.

You start to think, ‘Why doesn’t he do this for me?’ or ‘Why does he react differently to things?’ At first, when you’re head over heels, you think, ‘I can adjust to everything.’ But at some point you ask yourself, ‘Do I really have to keep doing this?’

I think marriage is an endless battle of consideration. There are so many times when you don’t feel like it, but you still have to say ‘okay’ with a calm and peaceful heart. The side effects hit hard.

Then, hinting at a possible “cause” of the trouble, Song Yi Woo emphasized the importance of checking a partner’s drinking habits and sense of empathy before tying the knot.

If someone lacks empathy, communication breaks down. Even if you’re going through something really painful or sad, to that person it might not seem like a big deal. Then the conversation just doesn’t work.
