Here’s Why Solar Has A Unibrow In MAMAMOO’s “AYA” MV

This will give you so much respect for her.

In MAMAMOO‘s latest music video “AYA,” the girls are back with some of their fiercest looks yet. In particular, Solar decided on the boldest point makeup imaginable: a unibrow.

Yes, you read that correctly. A unibrow.

Solar couldn’t have been more confident and calm going into the makeup process. Though it was all in good fun, she had to deal with some laughter from staff…

…and even endure some teasing from her group member, Moonbyul. Despite this, Solar’s vision never wavered once in her head.

She also had to get both the team leader and the MV director’s approval. So, why is having this unibrow so important to Solar?

She revealed that through this image, she was trying to portray an artistic woman.

She was pleasantly surprised at the MV director’s “artist-like” reaction. Immediately, he thought of Frida Kahlo, a Mexican artist from the early 20th century.

Frida’s iconic unibrow remains a symbol of rebellion against conventional beauty standards.

Like her decision to portray herself as bald in her “Spit It Out” MV, Solar wanted to show that women exist in many different forms and can be powerful and artistic, despite not fitting society’s standards of beauty.

If that isn’t feminist enough for you, Solar just loves toying with unconventional and artistic ideas, well, because she can.

I filmed my unibrow concept, although everyone tried to stop me…but everyone was fascinated by my face.

The end result? Totally badass…and it will probably make you put down your tweezers for a while.

I used to think I was the strangest person in the world. But then I thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do.

I would imagine her, and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me too. Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know that, yes, it’s true I’m here, and I’m just as strange as you.
