In May this year, Korean media reported that a military nurse at the 28th Infantry Division, identified as “A,” was suspected of leaking multiple medicinal goods and leaving her post during work hours to see Jin. “A” allegedly drove to the 5th Infantry Division, where the idol was posted, and approached him with the excuse of providing vaccination. She was accused of vaccinating Jin with his 2nd round of vaccine against hemorrhagic fever despite not being authorized.

After the incident, “A” was under investigation for leaving her station during work hours illegally and dispatching Tylenol in bulk to the 5th Infantry Division’s new recruit training division. The probe, carried out by the Ministry of National Defense Prosecutor’s Office, has been formally concluded. On the charge of stealing military medical supplies, “A” was found not guilty, while for the other charge, the indictment was waived because though she had failed to report the situation to the base commander, it was confirmed that she properly reported it to her superior.

Previously. “A” had denied all the accusations saying she went to the 5th Division after they requested neighboring bases for support due to a shortage of medical staff. After the investigation’s conclusion, her representatives talked to Korean media outlets, expressing frustration over how the issue was blown out of proportion without factual verification.

This case became controversial because an internet media outlet wrote a malicious article, without checking the proper facts, claiming that a female soldier had committed an illegal act to see BTS. As a result, the nursing staff who were just trying to do their work, got criticized by the society and had to go through extensive investigations by the military prosecution.

Talking about the outcome of this investigation, they added that “The injustice has been resolved to some extent for now.”
