Actress Moon Chae Won Addresses Her “Lewd” SNL Korea Appearance Amid Intense Backlash

Actress Moon Chae Won has taken to her DC Inside fan page and Instagram to discuss her recent appearance on SNL Korea, which sparked strong reactions from viewers. The episode featuring Moon Chae Won was since dubbed “lewd” after multiple moments of the actress getting extra-touchy with comedian Kim Won Hun.

One particular scene, in which Moon Chae Won vigorously rubs her foot on Kim Won Hun’s lower regions, has circulated online, with some netizens referring to it as the actress “jerking him off” or “giving him a footjob.” Netizens’ reactions slammed SNL Korea‘s trademark style of innuendo-infused comedy, which they felt was not right for the current generation of viewers.

That said, Moon Chae Won was unwavering in her posts that followed the episode. While she admitted that the episode might have caught some people off guard, she hoped that “no one feels too upset” about her attempt at comedy. Moon Chae Won asked that people acknowledge the fact everyone “has a different sense of humor and taste.”

Hello everyone, it’s good to see you all here. Were you surprised yesterday? It seems like some of you were caught off guard seeing me on a variety show in a character so different from what I’ve shown in my previous works.
Through this experience with the SNL team, I realized just how much effort and care so many people put into creating a single episode of the show. I’m truly thankful to those who came to the live taping as well. Even though it was brief, performing on stage was a unique experience for me. It was a special time where I got to take on characters and segments I might have never tried otherwise.
Since each of us has a different sense of humor and taste, I believe comedy is a particularly challenging genre. That’s why I also had a chance to learn a lot from watching the incredible talents of the cast and crew.
I hope no one feels too upset about it… Because time passes, and new days always come.
More than anything, I just hope all of you are feeling at ease and staying healthy. I’m always grateful to those who support me.

Since it was my first time on a stage like this, I was really nervous, but I had a special time with the entire SNL production team, the writers, senior Shin Dong Yup, and the amazing cast 🌟👩🏻🦰🧑🏻🦱👨🏻🦰👧🏻. So many people worked hard and poured their passion into the Saturday 8PM broadcast, and I did my best too, though I think some of my awkward moments showed. A big thank you as well to the audience members who came to the live show.
