Much-Anticipated Girl Group Debut Turns Out To Be “Just A Lie”

An elaborate marketing strategy, indeed.

Recently, social media has been abuzz with the anticipation surrounding an entity named easea.

As social media accounts under the name popped up overnight, with posts teasing debut plans and concept photos featuring two members, it didn’t take much time to convince K-Pop fans that a new girl group’s debut was on the horizon.

As soon as people were convinced that easea is an upcoming girl group, fan accounts and chart accounts under their name started popping up on X (formerly Twitter). The content announcing a supposed debut single album, Easea Peasy Coconut Breezy, only added to chatter.

However, many netizens were still doubtful whether it was really a K-Pop debut. As some dug deeper, they discovered that the two “members” featured in the teasers posted on easea’s account were both active models. Additionally, all the trademarks done by easea were related to skincare, rather than music.

The suspicion finally turned into certainty when the official easea account revealed its website, easea.skin.

With most netizens convinced that easea is a beauty brand, their marketing strategy sparked a heated discourse about K-Pop stan culture. Many ridiculed the fact that K-Pop fans “will stan anything” based on visuals and concepts alone, without even waiting to hear the music.

Others praised the brand’s elaborate strategy and effort for the launch, even though they regretted that such a beautiful concept was not going to be manifested into a K-Pop debut.
