Rich Iggy, who began his career in 2024, was part of the line-up for the upcoming RapBeat music festival. The rapper was also scheduled to perform his own solo concert on May 23, with tickets sold out.

However, details of the concert were connected to former South Korean president Roh Moo Hyun. Roh served from 2001 to 2008, but on May 23, 2009, died by suicide amid an investigation, and has since been viewed favorably by citizens.

Rich Iggy’s concert, in addition to taking place on the same day, sold tickets for ₩52,300 KRW (about $34.70 USD) and had a start time of 5:23 p.m.

Following the Roh Moo Hyun Foundation’s complaint and request for a ban on the artist, the event was canceled, alongside his appearance at Rap Beat. Rich Iggy has since apologized to the foundation, but lyrics from one of his songs have surfaced.

In a track called “Tank” from his 2024 album Quarterback, the lyrics mention “going after” elementary school students rather than high school students.

Instead of high school girls, I’ll go for elementary school girls and end up in juvenile detention even faster.

— “Tank” lyrics

The lyrics left many shocked and disgusted.

  • Every time this bastard has a performance somewhere, I feel like filing complaints.
  • Do rappers seriously not know how to write lyrics without bringing up girls? That Doriko guy? The way he mentioned the girls’ high school in that neighborhood was fucking gross.
  • Even after hearing this, you still don’t think they’re a potential criminal? This seriously makes me sick
