In the video, Shin Dong Yeop mentioned Nana’s recent experience with a robbery. He asked if her strength came from seeing her struggling mother, to which Nana recalled, “It was chaotic. I was very lucky, and that moment felt very long. Every second was critical.”
She explained, “After the incident, I thought that in an emergency, you have to act on instinct. If I had hesitated to think, the situation could have become more dangerous for me. Honestly, I wonder if I would have had that courage if there was no weapon involved. I didn’t expect there to be a weapon, but I saw it drop. So, without realizing it, I defended myself instinctively.”
She added, “After experiencing this, my mother and I, who were already close, felt even more that we are the only ones we have in this world. My mother was in the living room, and I was sleeping in my room, which is quite far from the living room with the door locked, so I couldn’t hear anything. But miraculously, I heard my mother’s faint voice and woke up. At that time, my mother couldn’t even make a sound because she was afraid I would wake up and come out.”
She continued, “My mother was strangled and fainted slightly. When she was gasping for air, she said, ‘Jina, lock the door.’ She regretted not being able to say even a word. Listening to her, I felt all the fear and emotions she went through and thought, ‘We will truly protect each other for life.’ This incident actually made our bond stronger. I believe it was heaven’s help.”
Last November, Nana was assaulted by a robber at her home. After a physical struggle, she and her mother subdued the attacker and called the police.

The assailant, Mr. A, was charged with threatening Nana and her mother with a weapon to extort money. During the incident, Nana’s mother lost consciousness after being strangled, and Nana was injured while restraining the attacker.
In January, Mr. A filed a countersuit against Nana for attempted murder, but the police ruled that the injuries Nana and her mother inflicted were in self-defense and decided not to prosecute. Nana responded by filing a counter-charge of false accusation against Mr. A.
