Court Sets Date For Former NCT’s Taeil First Trial

He will be taken to court soon.

The first trial for Taeil, a former member of idol group NCT, has been scheduled for May. He was previously indicted on charges of sexually assaulting a woman.

According to Star News, the 26th Criminal Division (Division D) of the Seoul Central District Court will hold the first hearing for Taeil and two others on May 12, 2025. Previously, on February 28, 2025, the Women and Children’s Crime Investigation Division 1 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office had indicted the three without detention on the same charges.

Taeil was reported to the police by the victim on June 13, 2024, and was booked shortly thereafter. The police began investigating and conducted their first summons for Taeil on August 28, 2024, shocking the public. Taeil was eventually forwarded to the prosecution without being detained. It is reported that among those involved, Taeil was the only well-known figure.

The Seoul Bangbae Police Station, which was leading the investigation at the time, had requested arrest warrants for all three individuals in June 2024, but the court denied the requests, citing that the suspects had admitted to the crime, reducing the necessity of detention.

As a result of this case, Taeil withdrew from both NCT and his agency, SM Entertainment. On October 15, 2024, SM Entertainment stated that his exclusive contract was terminated instantly on that day. Taeil debuted as a member of NCT in 2016 and was active in sub-units NCT 127 and NCT U.
