Netizens Criticize TREASURE Hyunsuk’s Latest TikTok Post — But It All Might Be A Misunderstanding

The confusion is understandable.

TREASURE‘s Hyunsuk received criticism from online users after posting a TikTok video, but the entire issue is likely just a huge misunderstanding.

On February 3, KST, Hyunsuk posted a video to TikTok of himself on stage, dancing to Lil’ Uzi Vert‘s “Just Wanna Rock.” The song has gone viral on TikTok, leading to many dancers posting their interpretations of it.

Normally, when a dancer posts their choreography to a song, others replicate it but give credit to the original creator in the comments using the shorthand “dc” for dance credit. In Hyunsuk’s case, the caption on the video gave dance credit to himself.

Fans immediately began hyping up Hyunsuk in the comments, complimenting him on his dance moves.

Other viewers began questioning the dance credit being himself, saying that the dance he did already existed. According to users, the first to create popular dances for this song were Lil Uzi Vert himself and another TikTok user, @drewjeeezy.

The issue of giving appropriate dance credit has come up several times during TikTok’s popularity. Dance creators not given credit often miss out on opportunities, like the creator of the “Renegade” dance (Jalaiah Harmon) after several Tiktokers, including Charli and Dixie D’Amelio popularized the dance. Many times the users affected by this are black, and even led to black TikTokers taking a hiatus from the app.

However, Hyunsuk’s “mistaken” dance credit might be a huge misunderstanding.

According to other fans, Hyunsuk might have meant “dance cover” instead of dance credit, and it seems like he explained this in a live video. During the live stream, Hyunsuk says there’s an existing choreography he would like to try out rather than making a new one.

You want me to make a dance trend? There’s one thing that i want to do. AH, but it’s not that i want to create [a new dance], it’s actually an existing one. There is this one rapper’s song that I really like and I think it’s a fun song to dance to. It’s Lil Uzi Vert’s song…

While fans were justified in their thoughts when the “dc” stood for dance credit, it seems like the entire thing was just a misunderstanding!
