Netizens Defend BLACKPINK After Criticisms Of Dressing Too “Sexy” And “Revealing” During Recent Schedules

It raises debate on double-standards in K-Pop!

Since debuting in K-Pop in 2016, BLACKPINK has never really stuck to the “stereotypical” looks that groups had during this time. Considering they are signed to YG Entertainment, it isn’t surprising that their looks have always been edgier and more mature.

Yet, recently, BLACKPINK has gained attention after netizens believe their outfits have become “sexier” and “more revealing” during the past few months.

In particular, a recent Korean forum was active after an OP shared thoughts on the fact that the group has been wearing much “sexier looks.” In the post, they shared some outfits worn during their BORN PINK show.

It isn’t just on stage that the members have gained attention for their looks. During recent solo schedules, the members have been wowing fans with their amazing outfits, showcasing their visuals, proportions, and charm.

Even on social media, the members have constantly been melting the internet with their beautiful looks. After debuting in 2016 and growing into women, it isn’t surprising that the members are showcasing more mature and sexier outfits.

Yet, although international netizens have loved the new sides to BLACKPINK, Korean fans have had more mixed reactions to the “sexier” looks. Considering the more conservative views of many, especially regarding fashion, it wasn’t surprising that the OP was vocal about the group’s looks.

What is up with BLACKPINK these days? It looks pretty and fits them, but it’s wack seeing them all dress like this. Aren’t the stylist dressing them too sexy?

Yet, what was surprising was the comments seemed to be defending the group, calling out the OP for the “rude” comments towards the members and their looks.

  • “I don’t think it’s that revealing.”
  • “The fact that you think something is wrong with it says more about you.”
  • “I think they are dressing this way to crossover to America. They are dressing more freely as they do in other countries.”
  • “It isn’t too revealing at all, LOL.”
  • “Is the author of this post from the Joseon (ancient Korea) era? LOL”

Idols grow and mature like the rest of us. Considering that the BLACKPINK members are grown women, they rightly should have a say in what they wear and be able to dress the way they want without being criticized.
