The momentum didn’t stop there episode two saw a sharp rise, jumping to 6.6 percent nationwide and 6.5 percent in Seoul.

While the domestic numbers are notable on their own, the Netflix performance is what really pushed the drama into the spotlight. In the United States, the series broke into the Top 5 most-watched shows, ranking fourth — just behind mega-hit Wednesday.

Over in the United Kingdom, it placed sixth, an especially strong showing for a drama with only two episodes released. In Australia, it immediately debuted at number two.

The series follows the story of a modern-day French chef who suddenly finds herself in the Joseon dynasty, where her culinary skills capture the attention of a fearsome king.
