NJZ Fan Union “Team Bunnies” Investigated For Alleged “Illegal Activities”

Their fundraising was allegedly illegal.

A representative of “Team Bunnies” has been referred to the prosecution for violating the Act on Collection and Use of Donations. The group, known as a prominent NJZ fanbase, had raised funds claiming they would track down malicious commenters.

The Seoul Jongam Police Station recently transferred Team Bunnies member A to the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors’ Office. A is under investigation for allegedly violating donation laws.

On October 21, 2025, Team Bunnies launched a fundraising campaign under the pretense of reporting malicious comments targeting NJZ. They publicly shared a donation account via social media, collecting ₩51.2 million KRW (about $37,000 USD) in just eight hours.

According to Article 4 of the Act on Collection and Use of Donations, fundraising efforts exceeding ₩10.0 million KRW (about $7,230 USD) must be registered with the relevant authorities. Failure to do so may result in up to three years of imprisonment or a fine of up to 30 million KRW. One netizen, believing Team Bunnies’ fundraising to be illegal, filed a complaint through the National Sinmungo (citizens’ petition platform). They stated, “I checked with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, and it was an illegal fundraiser without prior notification,” explaining their motivation behind the report.

Team Bunnies defines itself as “a collective of professionals from various fields who support NJZ.” They describe the group as composed of fans actively working in law, media, finance, culture, and the arts.

They have never revealed their identities in public. After NJZ lost the preliminary injunction seeking to maintain ADOR’s management authority and block advertising contract suspensions, Team Bunnies reportedly met directly with the members’ parents and legal representatives from law firm Sejong.
