NJZ (NewJeans) Wins Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Against YouTuber, Disgusting Comments Exposed
NJZ (NewJeans) has taken legal action — and won — against a YouTuber who repeatedly targeted the members with sexual comments and manipulated videos. The court’s recent decision orders him to pay damages to all five members.

According to Sisa Journal, the Seoul Western District Court ruled partially in favor of NewJeans in a damages suit they filed against the content creator, referred to as “A.”
The verdict requires A to pay ₩5.00 million KRW (about $3,600 USD) each to Minji, Danielle, and Hanni. Meanwhile, he will have to pay ₩7.00 million KRW (about $5,040 USD) each to Haerin and Hyein.
With no appeal filed, the ruling was finalized on July 22, amounting to a total of ₩29.0 million KRW (about $20,900 USD) in compensation.

Investigations revealed that A had been running two YouTube channels last year, producing more than 20 edited videos of NewJeans’ performances in a sexualized manner. The comments were also exposed.
According to the investigation, he left many offensive comments, referring to their song “Cookie” as “굵기” [meaning “thickness” or “girth”] and writing, “I want to make them moms of many kids.”

In June last year, the group’s agency ADOR filed a criminal complaint and pursued a separate civil suit seeking ₩100 million KRW (about $72,000 USD) in damages.
Meanwhile, NJZ is also in the middle of an ongoing legal dispute with ADOR over their exclusive contract. Earlier this year, the court upheld ADOR’s request to ban the members from taking on entertainment or advertising work without the agency’s approval. In April, another ruling stated that if the members engaged in any independent activities without consent, they would be required to pay ₩1.00 billion KRW (about $720,000 USD) per violation, per member, to ADOR.
