The American student returned home from North Korea in a coma, has died.
After spending 17 months in detention in North Korea, Otto Warmbier, was returned home last Monday. At the age of 22, he passed away in his home in Cincinnati, Ohio.
“Unfortunately, the awful torturous mistreatment our son received at the hands of the North Koreans ensured that no other outcome was possible beyond the sad one we experienced today.” – Otto Warmbier’s Family
The North Korean government claimed Warmbier had fallen into a coma after food poisoning, however, U.S doctors have found no such evidence supporting their claims.

The Young Pioneer Tours, whom Otto had been with, released a statement with their deepest condolences and agreed to no longer take American tourists on tours to North Korea.
“Our deepest sympathies are with Otto Warmbier and those who loved him…Considering these facts and this tragic outcome we will no longer be organizing tours for US citizens to North Korea.” – Young Pioneer Tours
