Park Na Rae’s Award Acceptance Speech Resurfaces Amid Abuse And “Injection Auntie” Controversies
Comedian Park Na Rae has become embroiled in controversy over multiple allegations including manager abuse, illegal medical procedures, and embezzlement, bringing renewed attention to the acceptance speech she gave six years ago when she won a grand prize.
Park Na Rae gained popularity through MBC’s I Live Alone and won the grand prize at the 2019 MBC Entertainment Awards.
At the time, Park said, “I’m 148 cm tall, right? Pretty short. But looking down from here, it’s the first time I’ve seen people’s crowns of their heads. I never thought I was in a high position or above anyone. The only perspective I’ve had is looking at your chins or nostrils. So I’ve always been so happy to look up from the bottom at you all.”
She went on, “I’m not a good person. Nor am I a kind person. But when Park Na Rae the entertainer appears on TV, I think every word I say, every action I take, can influence everyone. Even if Park Na Rae the person is bad, Park Na Rae the entertainer will work hard to bring you kind laughter. I will really do my best, and I will always remain humble and lowly. Since I’m short, I can’t go very high anyway. Thank you.”
She described herself as a “bad” person, and six years later, amid various controversies, those remarks are being reevaluated.
Recently, former managers exposed allegations against Park Na Rae involving abuse of power, proxy prescriptions, illegal medical procedures, and embezzlement. The ex-managers claimed verbal abuse, forced personal errands, and nonpayment of expenses during her one-person agency employment, filing a provisional seizure of real estate worth 100 million won with the Seoul Western District Court. They also filed a criminal complaint on embezzlement charges with the Seoul Gangnam Police Station.

In response, Park Na Rae’s side claimed the ex-managers pressured them with false accusations after being denied a demand for 10% of the company’s revenue and countersued for attempted extortion. However, the scandal deepened after evidence surfaced that Park Na Rae received illegal procedures from an unlicensed medical practitioner known as “Injection Auntie.”
