“The Marvels” Director Reveals The Real Reason Actor Park Seo Joon Was Chosen For The Role As Prince Yan
It seems like a classic K-Drama from Park Seo Joon was the reason behind his casting in an upcoming Hollywood blockbuster.
While Park Seo Joon is known to K-Drama fans worldwide, the actor is set to make waves globally as he stars as Prince Yan in the upcoming movie, The Marvels.
Although there haven’t been many snippets of the actor’s role in the movie, there have been screenshots showing what fans might expect.
Well, it seems like one particular role was the reason Park Seo Joon actually got the role, and it was all because of Itaewon Class. Back in 2020, Park Seo Joon took on the role of Park Sae Royi and had fans following his journey from underdog to successful businessman.
Recently, The Marvels’ director Nia Dacosta did an exclusive interview with Cine21 where she spoke all about the movie and, of course, Park Seo Joon’s role. In particular, she shared that during COVID, she was introduced to Itaewon Class.
During COVID-19, friends recommended ‘Itaewon Class’ starring Park Seo Joon, saying I would like it too.

She then explained that she had always loved K-Dramas, especially as a teenager, and began to binge-watch them, including others featuring Park Seo Joon.
I was also a fan of Korean dramas during my teenage years, so I started binge-watching the show to return to those days. Park looked really cool in the drama. Then, I started watching other works by him and remembered his name.

Nia Dacosta then explained that after she took charge of directing the Marvel film and needed to pick someone to play Prince Yan, Park Seo Joon came to mind.
Afterward, I took charge of directing ‘The Marvels,’ and while thinking about who would be suitable for the role of Prince Yan, Park Seo Joon came to mind.
