According to a Star News article released on November 3, the drama has been confirmed for a second season. The show will begin filming for its second season in early 2023.

Fans awaiting the highly anticipated Netflix drama, Gyeongseong Creature, rejoiced at the news but were also surprised that a second season for the drama had been greenlit before the release of its first season.

Gyeongseong Creature follows the wealthy Jang Tae Sang (Park Seo Joon) and  Yoon Chae Oak (Han So Hee), a specialist in finding missing people, as they fight a creature born of greed in colonial Korea.

The news of a second season shouldn’t be all too shocking as the series features a star-studded cast, including two of the industry’s brightest stars, Park Seo Joon and Han So Hee.

Supporting Park Seo Joon and Han So Hee are veteran stars Soo Hyun from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Harry Potter: Fantastic Beasts series, Kim Hae Sook, who is literally revered as the “Nation’s Mother” for her acting, Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha standout and Vincenzo actor Jo Han Chul, and one of Korea’s fastest rising stars, Squid Game heartthrob Wi Ha Joon.

Understandably, fans can not contain their excitement for Park Seo Joon and Han So Hee, two of K-Drama’s most-coveted leading actors, who will finally be acting in the same drama.

Park Seo Joon is Korea’s current undisputed leading man, having pulled off a trifecta of hits. Starting with his breakout performance on KBS’s 2017 drama, Fight For My Way, the actor’s stock has soared to bonafide stardom. Park Seo Joon’s 2018 tvN follow-up, What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim, and 2020 hit JTBC series, Itaewon Class, have each garnered international acclaim.

Han So Hee has been regarded by many as a generational talent. Her role as Yeo Da Kyung on The World Of The Married catapulted her into super-stardom. The actor has garnered comparisons to venerable actors such as Jun Ji Hyun and Song Hye Kyo, and in their vein, proved she was capable of leading a series on her own in the Netflix action noir, My Name.

With the release of the drama’s first season still months away in 2023, fans will be glad to know that Netflix has already bet on the series being worth the wait twice fold.
