5th Gen Idol Concert Gets Blasted After Members Fail To Show Up

“What’s the difference between this and an online concert?”

PLAVE recently held a concert in Jakarta as part of their tour. Although fans had been excited to see how the virtual idols would take their show overseas, they were disappointed by the multiple technical errors on site.

The screen had lines down the middle, disrupting the view.

The main screen later also flickered during a song.

The problem was made worse as fans realized that the members themselves were not on site. Although they are virtual idols, each member is voiced and characterized by a real person. During the Korea concert, the real singers behind the virtual faces were present on site to perform live. For international dates, the real singers are based in Korea, and live material is transmitted from Korea to the hosting country. As such, technical difficulties are common.

Not only this, netizens have criticized the concert process, arguing that the real singers should at least travel to the host country to perform live.

  • Shouldn’t the real singers go to the country for overseas dates too? If it’s just transmitted, then what’s the difference from an online concert?
  • Damn… So there were such issues. If it’s due to technical stuff then alright, but it’s a pity the real singers don’t go to the countries. I guess fans know this and still like them though.
  • It’s just videos anyway, so I guess they can just release the videos later.
  • No, but the real singers don’t go overseas personally? What meaning does this have for the fans? Isn’t it important to be in the same location as the artist?
  • Gasp… What about the fans’ money?

As concerts are expensive, many felt that the real singers should have at least been present as well. The technical issues were later solved and the boys performed the disrupted song again during the encore.
